Bari Mill, Coldwell Banker Realty | The Dawn McKenna Group, Lincoln Park

by Chicago Agent

Number of years in real estate: 6

Describe your look:
I like to think my style is polished and chic — a mix of sophisticated and sporty chic with a girly flair.

What do you consider a “fashion don’t”?
Loud luxury — wearing too many designer labels at once.

What style has come back into fashion that you think shouldn’t have?
Jelly sandals and barrel jeans!

What item of clothing gets you the most compliments?
Probably my Veronica Beard white vest! I love its versatility and how easily it can be dressed up or down.

What is a fashion crime you have committed in the past?
I once had a little too much fun as a wedding guest and wore a sea-glass crinkled organza dress with sequins under it. May or may not have been called Elsa a few times that evening, LOL.

Where are your favorite clothing stores or brands?
Veronica Beard, Alemais, Zimmermann and Bergdorf Goodman.

What fashion accessory do you feel naked without?
My Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra bracelet — I wear it every day!

Who is your style icon?
Julie Berolzheimer, Lovisa Barkman and Rosie H-W

What decade or time period had the best fashion in your opinion?
I’d say the 1950s or 1960s — that refined, Parisian-inspired era when Dior and Chanel were defining classic style. Think Audrey Hepburn: elegant, timeless and effortlessly chic.

What’s the most expensive or meaningful accessory or piece of clothing you’ve ever acquired? Do you still have it?
My Gucci peacoat. I bought it after my second year in real estate while shopping with my mom in L.A. as a way to celebrate a great year. I love rewarding myself with special pieces now and then — it keeps me motivated. When my mom replaced her Cartier watch, she passed it on to me, which makes it especially meaningful. I plan to keep both forever and eventually pass them along myself.

What item in your closet do you wear the most?
My wide-leg TWP jeans and black quilted Chanel flats. Both are comfortable, versatile and wardrobe staples.

Does your style reflect your personal brand? If so, how?
Absolutely. My style is an extension of my personal brand. I gravitate toward sophisticated, sporty-chic looks that are polished and professional but always with a girly, fun edge. I focus on timeless, staple pieces rather than fast fashion, which reflects the way I approach my work as a Realtor — intentional, hardworking and built on long-lasting value. Just like in real estate, fashion and real estate go hand in hand: attention to quality, details and presentation matter. I believe in presenting yourself in a way that’s approachable, memorable and inspiring.

What is your style advice for other people in the industry?
A few investment pieces you love will always beat a closet full of extras. How you present yourself matters — clients want an agent who looks the part and is polished. And let’s be real, fashion and real estate go hand in hand. You don’t have to be a fashionista; just be put-together, professional and confident in what you wear.”

Dress, Cult Gaia; shoes, Dior slingbacks; earrings, Jennifer Behr pearl earrings; bracelets, Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra and Cartier D’Amour
