Steven Dykeman, SVP of Mortgage Lending

CrossCountry Mortgage

Handling huge purchase volume in Chicagoland and nationally, Steven Dykeman’s built a successful business by educating clients and prioritizing strong communication. The SVP of mortgage lending at CrossCountry Mortgage has been named to the top 100 in loan officer production at CrossCountry every year since joining the firm. Dykeman holds an MBA in finance, allowing him to guide clients with expertise and knowledge. His emphasis on setting expectations and clarifying the process of obtaining a mortgage helps put homebuyers at ease. Dykeman’s clients receive an initial personal phone call previewing the steps of the mortgage process, followed up by an in-depth email gameplan that they work with him to perfect. His goal is to create happy, well-educated clients who feel empowered to accomplish their goals with confidence and no stress.

Dykeman makes sure he is available outside of business hours. “Clients and Realtors really appreciate that I am always reachable, including weekends, which is key in a competitive market environment,” he explains. The loyal and satisfied client base Dykeman has cultivated over 23 years in the business means that 99% of his business comes from referrals. He says his detailed preparation and timely communications set him apart. “I update clients with numbers (and key details) when they locate homes or condos that they are heavily considering placing an offer,” he shares. “This task, in particular, is a game changer on beating the competition and getting my clients under contract. The real life/current numbers help them decide quickly!”

Dykeman spends every moment of his free time with his beloved wife and their three young children in Chicago. “The kids are SO much fun and keep me young,” he shares. Dykeman notes that he’s thankful to have a flexible career that allows him to be present and involved each day in the lives of his children.
