Every year, the Chicago Tribune releases the Top Workplaces ranking — and in 2022, several residential real estate companies topped the list.
Working in conjunction with Energage (formerly Workplace Dynamics), the compilation recognizes nearly 200 Chicagoland companies, across different fields, that maintain a high-performance culture. Rankings are based on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous, third-party survey and divided into three categories: large companies, midsized companies and small companies.
Among large companies — those with 1,000 or more local employees — real estate companies dominated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago (BHHS Chicago) coming in at No. 1. It is their fourth year making the list and their second time in the coveted top spot.
“Being named the No. 1 Top Workplace is a wonderful honor,” BHHS Chicago CEO Diane Glass said in a press release. “In confidential comments, our brokers and employees described us as inclusive, professional and fun – great attributes to have as they work tirelessly to help clients achieve their dreams of homeownership.”

Kale Realty, Real People Realty, Draper and Kramer, d’aprile properties and Pangea Properties also made the midsize list, at Nos. 16, 19, 20, 53 and 55, respectively.
