Your tech or mine?

by Agent X

Here’s the issue where we talk about gadgets and gizmos a’plenty, and who’s its and what’s it (galore). It’s a shame we’re not using thingamabobs anymore, because I’ve got 20. How was that? Did it sound like I knew what I was talking about? Because, as my dear readers know, tech isn’t quite my favorite topic. Also, I heard AI is a big focus, which makes me nervous that ChatGPT is going to replace my column any day now … There is also a chance I thought it was Chat GBT until Google told me otherwise. Either way, can ChatGPT tell you who tripped down a flight of stairs at the last big Guaranteed Rate shindig? Because I sure can!

Lots of Chicago real estate representation at the Kentucky Derby to watch the horsies this year! Amy Duong Kim, Howard Kim and D.J. Paris were in attendance, as Amy gushed on Insta about the “unforgettable” experience. But you know what is truly unforgettable? The hat she was sporting with roses (to match her dress) and a golden horse! I can confirm that Amy wasn’t afraid to truly go for it, and I need to know where that hat came from this instant.

We all know Jenny Ames kills at real estate, but did you know she also slays on stage? She recently participated in her first Moth Story Slam at Lincoln Hall where she spoke about my personal favorite topic: Gossip! Maybe I should be more worried about Jenny taking my column than the chat bots?

Congrats to Dan Kieres and his wife, who just had their first baby! I’d like to congratulate both of them on closing the fun, carefree chapter of their lives and moving on to the diaper-changing, sleepless chapter.

On May 4, Coldwell Banker Realty in the Central West held its annual sales success event. Folks gathered at Joe’s Live in Rosemont for music, dinner and dancing. Nothing beats a round of dancing to work off a tasty dinner, especially if there were cocktails to get everyone feeling footloose and fancy-free.

@properties Christie’s International Real Estate held its annual Timeless awards ceremony at the Old Post Office in Chicago. Previously known as the Road to Rolex Awards, I was pleased to hear that, despite the name change, they were still handing out fancy watches.

Despite all of our collective efforts, people are still getting older, so let’s give them kudos! Amanda McMillan Dollinger gets wiser on June 6, while Rebecca Thomson and Natasha Motev do the same thing on June 7 and 8, respectively. Joe Zimmerman and Jody Kelly are bday twinsies on June 11, while Darlene Little is on her own June 12. Dave Hanna, Mabel Guzman, and Karen Schmid make up the bday trifecta on June 17, but maybe they’ll let Ginna Ryan and Jennifer Leong tag along as they get sparkly crowns on June 18 and 19. Julius Barrutia and Colleen Harper can party together on June 21, along with Rebecca Jansen on June 22, John Poast on June 23 and Heidi Seagren on June 24. Give a shout out to Dan Wagner and Chip Cornelius on June 27, and if you’re not too busy getting the fireworks ready, raise a glass to Joan Maloney on July 2 and Rich Rogala on July 3.
