Leslie McDonnell Team Leader, RE/MAX Suburban — Libertyville

Leslie McDonnell

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? Waitressing!

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Walk the lake, travel, listen to music and hang with family.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Elton John. He is a giver that has sustained success over decades.

What do you love most about the industry? The friends that I have made (both agents and clients).

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Working a systematic approach and going above and beyond for our clients.

What is a cause that is near and dear to your heart? The cause near and dear to my heart is raising funds and awareness for SmashSMARD. This was a charity started by my daughter to raise money to help fund gene therapy for a rare disease called SMARD. My 4-year-old grandson, Nash, has been affected by this rare degenerative neuromuscular disease and without gene therapy, he has little to no chance of survival. The real estate community has been amazing in helping with this cause. To donate, go to www.SmashSMARD.org.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Being able to pay it forward in multiple ways.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? Dr. Laura, Disappeared, 24 to Life and the Lifetime channel.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? Working with someone that abruptly ends the relationship with little to no explanation.
