Agent Snapshot: Janet Marinis, Broker, Baird & Warner, Hinsdale

Janet-Marinis

Janet Marinis is a broker with Baird & Warner in Hinsdale

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was a broker with Coldwell Banker in Hinsdale.

Where did you grow up? Des Plaines

Growing up, what did you want to be? I always wanted to be an attorney – now I get to work with them.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Yoga and time at the spa always help.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I am on the go so often that nothing tops being home with my family.

What do you love most about the industry? I love the end result: taking a client from start to finish through all the ups and downs of a real estate transaction. It is a great sense of relief for the client and a sense of accomplishment for me.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I have a team of experts, from lenders to renovators, who will take all the stress off the client and make the transaction seamless. I take luxury clients in a limo for showings so we are able to review the homes and go over all the details before and after a viewing. No more following around the Realtor and getting lost!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Time management, in order to make every client feel like they are my only client.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Networking is anytime, anywhere on a daily basis. The chamber is also great for meeting other business owners in the community.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Making the front page of Baird & Warner’s top producers!

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “Spectre”

What is your favorite restaurant? Mindy’s Hot Chocolate in Wicker Park

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? The Art Institute of Chicago

What kind of car do you drive? 2014 Mazda 6

Smartphone or paper? I could not conduct my business as efficiently without my iPhone.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? New York City

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Persistence pays off – never give up!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? DocuSign. There’s nothing like being able to write an offer while mobile.
