4 Chicagoland Suburbs Among Top 100 Public Schools Systems in U.S.

by Kathryn June Ryan

What Chicagoland suburbs have the top public school systems?

Four Chicagoland suburban public school systems are among the best in America, according to a recent analysis of the top 100 public schools in America.

The study, which was courtesy of ranking/review website Niche, featured Kenilworth, Northfield, Lincolnshire and Green Oaks, which all ranked highly on Niche’s 2015 list; Kenilworth was ranked No. 38, Northfield at 42, Lincolnshire at 68 and Green Oaks at 78.

Niche determined those rankings through careful analysis and comparison of each suburb’s Niche’s Education grade. This grade incorporates the average Niche K-12 Overall Grade for every public school serving the area. Each school is weighted by the number of students it serves. Of the suburbs that met the required statistical qualifications, Niche graded 9,130 and ranked 7,677.

Found the rankings to be a bit flawed. Riverwoods does not have any public schools. Students from that suburb all attend Deerfield District #109 for K through 8 and Deerfield High School, District #113, 9 – 12. Bannockburn has one K – 8 school and is it’s own District, #106, but students from there go to Deerfield High School for 9 – 12.

As a graduate of the Kenilworth school-district(Sears School), in 1982, I am not, at all, surprised to see it ranked as the best in the state. One could not have a more unique, and academically challenging, experience, in grammar-school.
