Decades of hands-on experience as an investor, developer, renovator, and property manager across Chicagoland, Milwaukee, and Southwest Michigan paved the way for Paul Frischer joining Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago in August 2019. Frischer grew up in Chicago and Evanston, studied urban geography and psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and later came home to rehab properties while building a retail company that grew past two dozen stores.
Time alongside the head purchasing agent of a Los Angeles contracting firm taught him how buildings are actually priced and built. Friends kept asking him to walk their properties, and getting licensed made official what he had already been doing for decades. That owner’s eye now guides clients across Evanston, the North Shore, several Chicago neighborhoods and Southwest Michigan’s Harbor Country, where his family has owned property since 1972. “I am uniquely positioned to help Michiganders find their Chicagoland foothold and Chicagoans find their lakeside retreat,” says Frischer.
This year, Frischer sold a 16-unit building in East Albany Park-Ravenswood Manor for $3.32 million — well above early offers. The sellers first met him as buyers on a home he had listed, and called him back when it came time to sell their own building. Frischer has earned Chairman’s Circle Gold from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in 2022 and 2025, President’s Circle in 2023 and 2024, and RealTrends Verified recognition in 2025.
Operating independently by design, he directly manages every client transaction rather than delegating tasks to junior staff, drawing when needed on a deep network that includes his wife, Sue, an Illinois attorney. The two raised four children in Evanston and once ran Market Fresh Books, a used bookstore downtown, for a decade. Tennis, motorcycling and soccer keep him moving.
