The past six years have been record-breaking for Aaron Wise, a senior mortgage banker at Guaranteed Rate Affinity. He recently shifted platforms after a quick break at a competitor, just to make sure that “the grass wasn’t any greener.” As it turned out, it wasn’t for him, so he’s back at Guaranteed Rate Affinity. Wise continues to serve his clients and agents with top-notch service — he attends each client’s closing — while also achieving career highs in Chicago’s market share in units and volume. He has been recognized as a Guaranteed Rate Affinity President’s Club member every year since 2020.
“The personal touch is everything in this business,” Wise remarks. “When you are referred to me, you get ME, and not a team member or some other contact to interact with. Some mortgage teams get so big with so many team members to where if you refer that loan officer, half the time you aren’t even talking to that person, which is crazy.”
Wise initially began his career working with a mortgage company because this pathway provided tuition reimbursement, which helped him take more technology courses. After a short stint juggling both types of work, he continued working solely in mortgages because it seemed like an easy and natural fit for his skills. He’s successfully grown his business ever since.
Celebrating 25 year in the business this year, Wise explains that the key to success is to spend as much time setting up the lending process as necessary while making the borrower feel comfortable and confident. “It’s easier to go through the process when the borrower knows the expected steps of that process,” he says.
