Debbie Hymen’s father always believed she should work in sales, despite the challenges of breaking into this field. In 1996, after he passed away, she decided to try real estate sales, quickly realizing that her father was right.
Now a managing broker licensee with Compass in Highland Park, Hymen has built a flourishing business based on referrals from colleagues and former clients. Her weekly social media videos cover market trends and current listings, which have helped to distinguish her as a leader in her market.
Hymen assists buyers, sellers, renters, relocation clients and investors of all price points in the city and suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Shore and her hometown of Highland Park. Her experience serving on both an elementary and high school school boards has provided her with a wealth of knowledge about the North Shore and its surrounding areas — experience that she’s happy to share with her clients.
Hymen prides herself on being client-focused. Realizing the importance of home life for all families, she strives to understand what is most important to her clients and how best to meet their needs. “It’s heartening to know that my clients feel I have their best interests at heart,” she says. “I guide them throughout the process.”
Hymen serves on the board of the North Shore-Barrington Association of Realtors and is actively involved in the Women’s Council of Realtors, Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council and Residential Real Estate Council. In 2019, when her school board service ended after 20 years, she joined the leadership council of TrueNorth Educational Cooperative 804 Foundation. TruNorth 804 is an educational cooperative providing special education services to Chicago’s northern suburbs. In this role, she works tirelessly to raise awareness and funding for the cooperative.
