Known as a high-tech and high-personal-touch mortgage professional, Brian Augustine has been serving homebuyers in Chicagoland for 32 years. He entered the business right out of college, noting that his economics degree and minor in communications aligned perfectly with the mortgage world, which requires economic expertise and the ability to communicate with clients on a personal level every day.
Augustine strives to maintain efficiency and build strong personal connections while leaning on tech to make the process smooth and predictable for clients. His decades in the industry also play a major role in the positive outcomes he achieves. “There is no substitute for in-the-trenches mortgage experience,” he says. “In 32 years, I have experienced so many different scenarios and curveballs — you can go to your tool belt to keep transactions on track for a successful closing.”
Described as helpful, knowledgeable and a top-notch communicator, Augustine believes that educating and engaging with clients are key to the process. “I make sure they know they will need to do some work to borrow several hundred thousand dollars,” he explains. “They are part of the team.”
Augustine is licensed not only in Illinois, but also in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Florida. With such a wide reach, he earned Top 1% Originator recognition from both the Scotsman Guide and Mortgage Executive Magazine in recent years. Last year, he took on the additional role of regional sales manager, working alongside New American Funding colleague Larry Steinway to increase the organization’s market share in Chicago.
When Augustine takes time out, he can be found boating, golfing and playing pickleball. Married to his wife, Jill, for 29 years, he especially enjoys seeing his two adult children, Jack and Sophie, make their way in the world. A McHenry County resident, he holds membership in the McHenry County Men’s Alliance and volunteers at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.
