The past year and a half has been a difficult time in mortgage lending. But the leadership team at Proper Rate approached the challenges as if they were opportunities, and three of its members earned Proper Rate’s 2022 JATF Leadership Award. As inaugural recipient of the award, Jo Ann Theriault-Fazio, Proper Rate’s SVP, mortgage lending/branch manager/GROW mentorship director, always has the honor of selecting the winners. This year’s recipients include Traci Anastasia, EVP of operations; Chris Louis, SVP of closing; and Steve Levitt, VP of sales performance.
“What elevates them above the rest in our industry is their character,” says Theriault-Fazio. “They took on more responsibility and worked longer hours to make sure that Proper Rate continued to thrive.”
With decades of experience behind them, each teammate has worked through multiple cyclical markets, financial crises and a pandemic. All of those difficulties taught them how to handle internal and external changes and still deliver for clients and co-workers. The team is committed to clients and strives to give them a unique experience by maintaining accessibility and working together to meet common goals.
“Being able to navigate through this crazy market has really shown the resilience of our leadership team,” Louis says. “That, coupled with the rollout of new programs, processes, staffing, etc. has shown that while small, we are a mighty company that is always willing to adapt to whatever changes come our way.”
Levitt considers his exposure to billions of dollars in mortgage transactions as “intel” to guide, coach, educate and train others. Having led teams for more than 20 years, Anastasia says accessibility and knowledge are the keys to her business style. Over the years, many incredible coworkers have shown her that flexibility and strength during change are imperative to success.
