Two decades ago, Tamara Lynn Hernandez was a franchisee owner of Mexican restaurants, but the relentless pace and physical demands took a toll on her health and her family. Tired of sacrificing so many important memories with her children, she turned to real estate and never looked back. She set a goal of opening her own brokerage within five years of joining RE/MAX — and accomplished it in just three and a half years.
Her son Alec Hernandez joined her as a licensed Realtor, and the bilingual duo operates RE/MAX Home Sweet Home in Grayslake, serving Lake, McHenry, Cook, Kane and DuPage counties. “Alec is my eldest son out of four kiddos and has been working with me most of my life. He has always been my right hand at everything we do as a family,” Tamara Lynn shares.
The top goal at Home Sweet Home is to bring the dream of homeownership to everyone, so the team works with every type of buyer from start to finish, even when that means helping potential clients learn how to build their credit to get to the point where they can buy. An industry-known shark who won’t take no for an answer, Tamara Lynn is known as a strong advocate for her clients.
Having worked with Tamara Lynn as an executive assistant for many years before earning his broker’s license, Alec shares her commitment to helping others achieve homeownership. “One of my biggest beliefs is that everyone deserves to be a homeowner,” Alec says. Thorough and process driven, he excels at writing strong offers to make sure his clients achieve their dreams.
Among other accolades, Tamara Lynn was named to the RE/MAX 100% Club in 2020, Platinum Club in 2021 and Platinum Team in 2022. She has also been among the Homesnap Top 5% for the last three years. As part of her work in the community, Tamara Lynn is forming a nonprofit foundation to assist unhoused single mothers, and Alec works with his wife’s volunteer group, Hernandez Helping Hands.
