Long before she became an award-winning Realtor, Kathryn Hoffman was an “open house junkie.” She loved touring homes and checking out all of the little nuances that made them special.

Hoffman is a certified divorce real estate expert with Century 21 Circle. She has 24 years of experience in divorce real estate, probate and estate sales, as well as traditional transactions in DuPage, Will Kane, Kendall and the western portion of Cook.

“I want to assist in uncomplicating peoples’ lives while under emotional duress,” says Hoffman. “Both divorce and probate can be unduly stressful.”

Based on her own experiences with marital counseling and divorce, she hears things differently than agents not experienced or trained in this area. “I know when to stay in my own lane,” she says. “It’s about my clients. It’s not about the next “deal”.

In a divorce situation, the sellers are most often living apart and she serves as the neutral party. “Each seller must be kept informed equally,” she explains. “There are specific parameters to be followed in a divorce listing that are not considered necessary in traditional listings.” When both parties feel as if they were treated equally and fairly while selling the marital property, she has succeeded in accomplishing her goal.

In college, Hoffman majored in Radio, TV and Film with a minor in Advertising. After graduation, she worked in broadcasting, which gave her experience talking in front of people and presenting—great assets in a listing or buyers presentation!

She began her real estate career in new homes sales, working her way up from greeter to managing a new home development. After working for two home builders on the verge of going out of business, she decided to become a Realtor and be her own boss.
