Known for his professionalism and patience, Steve Molitor combines his expertise with a laid-back approach. He strives to keep clients from getting overwhelmed and helps them feel comfortable throughout the loan process. Over his more than four decades in the business, he has built a network of repeat clients who refer friends and family. He has a great support staff, allowing him to spend more time building relationships with Realtors and potential borrowers.
Molitor learned early the value of hard work and determination. He played three sports in high school, as well as college football. He says the work ethic that was instilled in him at a young age has helped him overcome the many obstacles and challenges that the mortgage industry has presented.
After working a variety of sales positions, Molitor realized he was interested in building long-term relationships rather than one-and-done sales. He was introduced to mortgage banking through an employment agency and was immediately fascinated. “We worked almost exclusively with first-time buyers, and I found it extremely rewarding helping people with such an important milestone in their lives,” he says. “Very early in my career, mortgage rates rose to the highest in history, topping out at 18 percent. I figured if I survived that, I could meet any challenge the industry threw at me.”
Molitor has been awarded the Five Star Mortgage Professional Award for Excellence for 11 years running. “I take great pride in understanding programs and guidelines and in my ability to come up with the ideal fit for each client,” he says. “I’m very stubborn and I find a way to make the tough deals work.”
In his free time, he loves to golf, but has realized after many years of frustration that he’ll never be any good. Instead, he just tries to enjoy every minute he has on the course.
Married for 35 years, Molitor enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family. He has five grown children, two grandchildren and another on the way.
