A personal real estate investment was the catalyst that drove Karen Mason to change careers from finance to real estate. “I always knew I wanted a profession that leveraged both my analytical and data-driven competencies, with my passion for making personal connections,” says Mason, a real estate broker with @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. “My transition from banking to real estate accelerated when my husband and I bought a multi-family building in Chicago in 2004. That experience highlighted how critical the intersection of data analytics and personal care is when advising others on the biggest purchase or sale of their lives.”
Mason is a self-described empath, which helps her guide her clients to make the best decisions for themselves. “I’m naturally drawn to putting myself in other people’s shoes,” she explains. She has practiced real estate in Glencoe for the past 11 years, and has ingrained herself in the community, by participating on the boards of Family Service of Glencoe, Glencoe Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP).
Mason prides herself on being knowledgeable about the market, educating her clients on the process and remaining calm when things can get chaotic. Her proven process has earned her clients’ trust and respect. “I prepare my clients by discussing their goals and objectives, the timeline and ideal outcome,” she explains. “I share my trusted vendor list to ensure they have the support they need throughout the process. I create my marketing plan based on my client’s needs and desired outcome, educate them on current market conditions, discuss how the process works, share risks and obstacles that could come our way and how we will overcome them.”
In the past year, Mason achieved her own personal record by selling over $22 million. She was also in the top five percent of North Shore-Barrington Association of Realtors producers in 2021.
When Mason isn’t advising clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 18 years, her 13-year-old son, 11-year-old daughter and their Goldendoodle. To unwind, she enjoys exercising, golfing and traveling.
