Jennifer Johnson, Real Estate Broker

Compass

Good listeners make good actors and even better real estate agents. Jennifer Johnson specializes in single-family homes, condos and multi-units in Chicago, Evanston and Oak Park. Her clients include first-time, experienced and luxury buyers and sellers. She’s a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist, member of the Million Dollar Guild, Certified Negotiation Expert and Accredited Buyers Representative.

As a member of the Chicago Association of Realtors, Johnson has been recognized by the group as a Residential Top Producer. Chicago Real Producers also ranked her among their Top 250 Brokers.

Johnson’s previous acting career honed her listening skills, which she considers vital to her business success. “I use those all day, every day. I believe listening is one of the most important parts of my job,” she says. Several years in wine sales also showed her how much she enjoys selling.

Johnson is process-driven when working with clients. “For buyers, we discuss their wants and needs and go over the process so they’re well-informed before we start. I require pre-approval before we begin,” she explains. “For sellers, I’m very hands-on. I have a multi-step process that gets them on the market as quickly as they need while prepping their home in the best way for the highest return.” This enables them to navigate the market confidently, with a game plan in place, Johnson says.

Clients describe Johnson as “tenacious, focused on their best interests, a good listener, good communicator, professional, trustworthy, intelligent and patient,” she says. Her assistant, Adam, helps manage her business so she can focus on clients. “I like to be as personal as possible. This is a big decision with lots of money at play,” she says. “So, connecting with my clients, being hands-on, giving a personal touch and making sure I’m guiding them through the process is important.”

Johnson is an emeritus member of Playmakers Laboratory, a theater company. She’s also on the Compass Cares Committee and an active alumna of Northwestern University.
