Shelly Gubser, Broker

A native of Kentucky, Shelly Gubser knows firsthand the wonder Chicago can inspire and the challenges living in a new city can present. Her love for Chicago laid the groundwork for her determined entrance into the real estate market. Having lived in different neighborhoods, Gubser, a broker with Compass, gained local understanding of the city. That combined with her warm approach and dedication to her clients make for a killer combo. In just three years, she has quickly become a pro, noting that the pandemic has taught her how to calmly ride through the storm.

“My previous career in PR and marketing for global-name brands taught me to be fearless, make decisions quickly and with confidence, pay attention to details and manage clients’ expectations,” Gubser says. Clients say her superpowers are a balance between making the transaction process seamless while making it less stressful and even fun.

Diligent with a positive and uplifting attitude, Gubser always remembers, “You don’t get caught up in a bad day; you focus on your why: the client and your investment in their best interests.” After experiencing all the ups and downs of 2020, she says she relied on technology and strong leadership to help grow her business quickly in a “wild” market and an unpredictable year.

“I’m always ready to adapt to new things, switching gears instead of shrinking back,” she says, “and I rely on my intuition and trust my gut when solving problems for clients.” Possessing an organized and process-driven work style while bringing humor and joy to her client interactions makes Gubser an unforgettable force for her clients’ goals and needs. “We talk expectations upfront and lay the groundwork,” she relays. “I value being realistic and truthful, and they value my trusted-advisor approach and that I am never pushy.”

Having built a solid business, this team leader is positioned for wonderful things in the years to come — and so are her clients.
