After over 30 years in the mortgage business, Roy Taylor is still as passionate about helping people finance their homes as he was at the beginning of his career. Over the last three decades, Taylor has earned numerous accolades, including being ranked among the top 1% of mortgage originators in America by Mortgage Executive magazine, being named a top originator by industry trade publication Scotsman Guide, being recognized by customer satisfaction platform SocialSurvey as one of the top 100 loan officers rated by their service, and remaining a consistent member of his company’s President’s Club, its exclusive group for top producers.
When he first started his career, Taylor helped underserved communities with their home financing. Today, he is currently a Midwest regional vice president at Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp., and his client base ranges widely from those same inexperienced homebuyers to seasoned property investors, and everyone in between.
Taylor attributes his success to the forward-thinking way he approaches every mortgage transaction. “I’m an expert at what I do, and that means keeping up to date with the ever-changing lending world, foreseeing roadblocks and providing excellent customer service to meet or exceed my clients’ expectations,” he says.
Last year was a personal best for Taylor, as he closed over $73 million in loan volume. “I think the biggest accomplishment from 2020 is how our organization came together,” he says. “We were all working from our kitchens or bedrooms but still achieved record numbers without giving up on customer experience.” Taylor’s goals for the future include keeping up his record-breaking momentum and mentoring his daughter, Lauren, who recently joined his team as a loan officer.
In the midst of the global pandemic, Taylor and his family recognized how important it is to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. He is a father to two daughters and husband to his wife of over 30 years. In his free time, Taylor enjoys boating on Lake Michigan.
