Determined and genuine, Alex Morsch always practices what he preaches. As a broker with Peak Realty Chicago, Morsch, a former personal trainer and the son of a New Jersey-based real estate agent, specializes in multifamily investment properties in West Town and Wicker Park. “At Peak, we have a lot of rental properties, which gave me a strong base and knowledge of the market,” he explains, noting that over the course of his four-year career, he’s rented more than 500 apartments. This has given him insight into the potential values of post-rehab prices for multifamily investments and brought a steady stream of clients. “Most people start out renting before becoming a homebuyer,” Morsch notes, “and I’m here for the long haul to help them with that transition.” In 2020 alone, he assisted an investor in purchasing over $2 million worth of properties in Logan Square.
Working under the guidance of Peak Properties owner and industry veteran Mike Zucker, Morsch cites his proximity to one of the city’s top investors as fundamental to his development as a real estate professional. “My takeaway has been that relationships are the most important part of the business, especially in multifamily,” he says. “As a personal trainer, I learned how to accommodate my clients’ specific needs. That’s given me a huge leg up.” He adds that due to the number-driven nature of the investment world, he and his fellow brokers support one other rather than compete.
Born in New Jersey, Morsch spent half his life in London and Hong Kong. He’s currently a resident of West Town/Wicker Park, where he completed his first solo gut rehab project on an entire building. “I have a strong passion for development,” he declares, “and after this project feel as though I can keep taking on more, both for myself and my clients.”
