After collectively trying hundreds of criminal litigation cases in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and facilitating thousands of real estate closings through their law firm, Kelli Fogarty and Dean Fugate offer a unique perspective to their real estate clients. “We recognized a need in the industry for attorneys who approach the closing process with the same dedication a litigator brings to a trial,” Fugate says. “We always think several steps ahead, anticipate potential issues and help our clients circumvent any challenges that might arise.”
Law partners as well as husband and wife, Fogarty and Fugate met while they were both litigators prosecuting felony cases for the state’s attorney. After discovering a shared passion for architecture, real estate law and the city of Chicago, they decided to marry and launch their own real estate firm. “We both love real estate law because it is the only legal specialty where both sides have the same main objective and work toward the common goal of closing,” Fogarty says.
Recognized among the top real estate law firms in Chicago, Fogarty & Fugate offers a team-oriented, inclusive approach to real estate transactions and involves clients and brokers in every aspect of the process. “We really like each other and care about what we do,” Fogarty says. “We strive to bring an unparalleled level of commitment to the transaction process as well as a personal touch that resonates with clients and brokers.”
Active philanthropists, Fogarty and Fugate regularly support the Cook County Children’s Advocacy Center, Habitat for Humanity and many other charities though donations, service projects and pro bono work. Fogarty serves as the vice president of the board of directors of @gives back and was named to the first class of Elite 6 Dinners. Fogarty and Fugate also offer educational seminars on contracts, negotiation strategies and closings at local brokerages, and enjoy spending time with their son, Grayson.
