Working in real estate requires the innate ability to successfully adapt to change. For Stephen Missirlian and Georganna Yessaian, their decision to take a chance and make a major change in their business has proved to be one of their best decisions yet.

Missirlian and Yessaian are brokers for Missirlian Properties at Compass. The team works in the Chicagoland market but has also begun to do more work in the surrounding suburbs, as many of the team’s previous clients are starting to grow families and move out of the city.

This year, the pair moved its self-owned and independent brokerage to Compass. Since then, they have loved having the opportunity to work with a forward-thinking and full-service company, and they have enjoyed being busy with both old clients and new. “We are thrilled about our affiliation with Compass, an exclusive real estate company that is heavily invested in technology and only brings onboard the best of the best in the industry,” they say.

Furthermore, Missirlian and Yessaian have set a goal over the past five years to purchase a property each year, either to hold as a rental or to sell as a renovation flip. Recently, they purchased a unit that was incorrectly listed as a one-bedroom — it ended up being a foreclosure that needed a total transformation. The team purchased the unit and renovated it, and the investment turned out to be incredibly successful. “Our expertise as agents allowed us to identify such an opportunity and move on it,” they say.

Missirlian and Yessaian understand that they work in an industry where change is constant — that’s why they’ve taken it upon themselves to keep up with trends. “Since we are always out on showings, we get to see the market in person and can keep our clients up to date with new construction opportunities that may not necessarily be on the market yet,” they say. The team proactively seeks out properties for its clients, and their ability to be responsive at all times of the day ensures customers feel as though they are being treated as family every step of the way.
