A career in real estate combines Beata Gaska’s two favorite interests: architecture and sales. For the past few years, the broker with Sergio & Banks Realty has continuously been a top producer and ranked among the top 1 percent of agents by the Chicago Association of Realtors.
Before she entered the industry nearly two decades ago, Gaska worked as a supervisor at an international travel agency, selling international travel tickets to smaller agencies and private clients. She also gained experience as a corporate travel agent, in charge of assisting business travelers with travel arrangements or modifications. The customer service skills she picked up proved to be incredibly helpful in her next career.
When she first started in real estate 19 years ago, Gaska worked mostly with buyers throughout Chicago. After a few years, she began working with rehabbers, helping them buy multi-unit buildings to convert into condos. Today, her role has changed. She works primarily with developers, selling new construction condos and single-family homes in the city and nearby suburbs. “While I still manage to help my clients sell and buy resale properties, I am handling a lot of pre-construction sales,” she says.
In 2017, Gaska represented the seller of a 10,000-square-foot Gold Coast home, the highest sale of a single-family home at the time. “It sold to the first buyer who walked through the door,” she says.
Gaska’s strongest passion lies in pre-construction sales. “I take my time and go over the details of how the properties are going to be built and what kind of finishes the builders are providing with clients,” she says.
Last year, Gaska sold a luxury 17-unit townhome development using mainly floor plans. “It makes me really happy that during my presentations clients can imagine the finished product,” she says. “It’s so satisfying to see how happy they are when they can finally walk through their newly built home.”
In her free time, Gaska enjoys walking her dog, Leon, and playing tennis.
