Joanne Nemerovski strives to provide an unmatched level of service and support, leveraging her understanding of the market and 28 years of experience to cater to her clients. Specializing in Chicago’s luxury market including properties within Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Streeterville, DePaul, Lakeview, River East, River West and Old Town, Nemerovski, a broker manager with Compass, works with high-end buyers and sellers. She has sold well over $1 billion and consistently sells over $50 to $60 million annually, all of which is accomplished without a team.
Among her honors and distinctions, Nemerovski was named a Mega Broker of the Midwest by Unique Homes and Top of the Rock by Prudential Preferred Properties. From 2014–2017, she was honored as the No. 1 broker among all Berkshire Hathaway affiliates in the 12-state Midwest region.
Coming from a four-year career as a corporate law attorney, Nemerovski transitioned into real estate to satisfy a desire to work with individuals rather than corporations. “I was craving something more entrepreneurial and rewarding. I love homes, especially when I’m able to find the right one for the right client.” Following corporate law, she first worked for Koenig and Strey and then Prudential, staying with the company through its purchase by Berkshire Hathaway up until 2017 when she made her move to Compass. “Making the move to Compass meant stepping outside of my comfort zone for the second time in my professional career. Change is always scary, even when you know it’s the right thing for you, your family and your business.”
One of Nemerovski’s greatest challenges was adapting her proven routine and moving towards Compass’ tech-forward approach for business.
“By giving technology a more prominent role in my business practice, I’m able to provide my clients with an even better experience,” she explains, adding that she utilizes analytics to provide a logic and strategy-driven transaction. Her relationships throughout the industry and ancillary services allow for her to easily walk her clients through what can be a daunting process. Helping with pricing, staging, movers, cleaners, painters, flooring or whatever the need may be, her network is unparalleled.
Nemerovski is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association and several top real estate industry associations. She is on the board of Facing History and Ourselves and the Respiratory Health Association, and is a supporter of the Greater Food Depository, Chicago Tutoring, Chicago Ideas and Leukemia Research Foundation.
With an appreciation for the outdoors, Nemerovski enjoys biking, running, hiking and walking her dog by the lakefront. However, she’s happiest when with her family and while giving back to the community.
