Brian Malmquist and Prashanth Pathy have leveraged their past careers in mortgage financing, contracting, and special education to be named Top Residential Producing Real Estate Team in 2017 by the Chicago Association of Realtors. Together they now have 16 years of experience in the industry and have helped 54 families in just their first year as partners in Malmquist Pathy Real Estate. Malmquist and Pathy say their biggest accomplishment is building a business that is client-focused while crafting a life worth living for themselves. They serve buyers, sellers, tenants and seasoned investors looking to expand their portfolios in Chicago, Naperville and the northwest suburbs.
“We stand on the shoulders of giants,” the duo says. “At Keller Williams Chicago–Lincoln Park, we are fortunate to be working in an extremely collaborative environment with like-minded brokers. It allows us to learn from the experiences of the most successful and seasoned teams in the industry. This translates to best-in-class service for our clients, which is our main focus.”
Their extra commitment to customers — bringing together a specialized crew of contractors to make sure properties are primed to market and exploring every avenue of financing to guarantee buyers are receiving the most competitive rates, fees and pricing— wins them business and opens up additional opportunities for them to expand their team. “Residential brokerage can be a crowded space so we differentiate ourselves by putting energy where others simply won’t — door knocking, prospecting the closest 200 neighbors to invite them to open houses or previews, and using geo-targeting to exponentially maximize exposure, in addition to utilizing various off-market networks,” they say.
Pathy’s background in lending and underwriting gives clients an edge during the homebuying process, while Malmquist’s patience and communication strategies he honed while teaching allow him to easily gel with clients of all personality types.
Soaking up the sun by playing a round of golf or feeding their souls with music by attending a concert at one of their favorite venues is how they unwind after hours and escape the hustle.
“Real estate can be 24/7, and it’s easy to burn out without systems in place and without loving what you do,” they say. “Our friendship and common vision for our business fuel our passion for this industry, and we have a great time doing it.”
