Chicago Summers Rule

by Chicago Agent

As sweat drips off of my nose onto my keyboard, I’m reminded that I can again feel my toes and summer is almost here. If you had asked me my favorite neighborhood in the winter, I would’ve told you while shivering in my boots that I hate every stupid hood in Northern Illinois. Now that the beer gardens are opening and baseball is here, I can’t pick just one because I love them all. Also, I could never really pick my favorite neighborhood, because that would be like telling one kid that you love the other one better; if I had kids that is. On with the gossip.

Let’s start off with the movers and shakers because I’ve got a big one. In a surprise last-minute decision, Rich DiVito and Colin Hebson moved over to Koenig and Strey’s Lincoln Park office from @properties. I heard some rumors that they were heading elsewhere, but no one said anything to me about KS – nice nab! Also, David Rice moved to president of New Home Star Corp., from vice-president of sales and marketing for the Pulte Homes, Del Webb and DiVosta homes at Pulte Homes Corp.

Donatelli Builders Inc., a residential construction firm based in Wheaton, won in the category of best whole-house remodel in the Dream Home Awards. What I want to know is whose dream are we talking about?

Those using the $8,000 tax credit are rapidly increasing. KLM’s president Kim Meier reported that out of six homes they currently have under construction, two are being built for buyers who will qualify for the tax credit. He is hoping that number will increase soon when his new models at Sunset Ridge in Spring Grove open. That’s great for all those first-time buyers, but what about the rest of us shlubs?

On May 19, New West’s University Village hosted a broker tour. I was pleased to see that the projects didn’t look like dorms.

Bella Properties hosted a VIP party at MidAmerica Club on May 21 to officially unveil their fractional project and how agents can “Earnamill” with them. Of course I was there because I’m everywhere that uses the term VIP. And earnamill works, too. I had to figure out what that one meant first.

Jenny Sepulveda with Keller William’s Lincoln Park office hosted another “Night of Luxury” at Salvage One on May 21 to benefit autism awareness. Luxury is another term that gets me out of my seat.

Jameson Real Estate is hosting a Blood Drive at their office on May 28 from 11 – 3. I’m glad they’re doing something charitable, but I need my blood.

On May 27, Steve Biossat (try saying that three times fast) celebrated his big day. Then on May 28, Jennifer Morrell and Karen Ranquist also enjoyed having their cake and eating it, too.
