Pamela HHHeadshot

Pamela Herold Hogan is a broker with Century 21 Affiliated-Chicago in Chicago

What was your first job in the realty industry? I began my real estate career with Jameson Realty, now Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty, in Sept. 2001.

Where did you grow up? Barberton, Ohio, which is located in Northeast Ohio, 40 miles southeast of Cleveland.

What is your favorite free-time activity? I’m a sports spectator, primarily the NHL, NFL and NBA.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Take a hot bath.

Growing up, what did you want to be? At different times: an Olympic gymnast, a teacher and a dental hygienist.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Queen Elizabeth II. Her longevity as a leader is admirable. I would ask her how she handles the day-to-day stresses of being the “Queen.” Also, in lieu of being in power, what would she have done with the last 50 years of her life?

Where is your favorite place to hang out? In PL’s, my abbreviation for Pamela’s Lounge. It is my haven for watching sports, entertaining friends and family, or watching high-quality entertainment programs.

What do you love most about the industry? The complete satisfaction of knowing that my client’s goal(s) were achieved. It is the best kind of “warm fuzzy.”

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? In several ways:

  • I always conduct myself as a professional, both in appearance and actions.
  • I am a straight-shooter, honest and candid, even if it isn’t what the client wants to hear, and convey information diplomatically.
  • I believe organization is key to maximizing time with my client, as well as being adaptable to their scheduling needs.
  • I provide resources for my clients at all phases of a transaction, and effectively offer solutions to problems that arise.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Dealing with an individual involved in a transaction that is an alarmist. It makes a stressful situation even worse for all parties involved.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I attend neighborhood events. I sponsor annual alumni functions based on my marketing plan for the year. With resources of over 1,000 Century 21 Affiliated agents in 22 offices spanning throughout the surrounding Chicago suburbs, I make an effort to attend company meetings/trainings and introduce myself as their expert for Chicago proper.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? After the loss of my husband, learning to be self-sufficient again.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Lee Daniel’s The Butler.

What is your favorite restaurant? Michael’s on East in Sarasota, Fla.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? The Wrigley Building.

What kind of car do you drive? A Toyota Avalon.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Venice, Fla.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Select mentors to mirror. Ask questions. Get involved in industry.
