Coldwell Banker Receives 2010 ‘Spirit of Youth’ Award

by Chicago Agent

Coldwell Banker is being honored with the 2010 “Spirit of Youth” award from the National Runaway Switchboard (NRS) for its work and dedication in supporting the organization’s mission of keeping America’s runaway and at-risk youth safe and off the streets. The award will be presented at the organization’s annual “Spirit of Youth” benefit on Nov. 12 at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

“We are recognizing Coldwell Banker because of its ongoing support and commitment to NRS and for being a strong corporate philanthropic leader for NRS,” said Maureen Blaha, NRS executive director.

Coldwell Banker has hosted many events to raise money for NRS and awareness about the runaway issue in this country through its Charitable Foundation, whose primary purpose is to raise funds to provide financial assistance to housing-related causes in the community. Since 2005, the real estate firm has donated more than $30,000 and has supported Realtors in their NRS roles on the board, in the call center and as Street Team members.

“We are truly honored to be the recipient of this year’s ‘Spirit of Youth’ award,” said Fran Broude, President and COO of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.  “Our Realtors have rallied behind National Runaway Switchboard for its admirable mission, and we are proud to be a strong advocate for them.”

The annual event raises awareness and funds for NRS programs and services that focus on prevention and helping youth throughout the country once on the streets. Attendees will enjoy tours of the Design Center at The Merchandise Mart’s DreamHome while indulging on dishes from 10 Chicago premiere restaurant partners, including Top Chef’s Stephanie Izard, Vanille Patisserie, Sushi Wabi, and Opera Restaurant.

The goal of this year’s “Spirit of Youth” benefit is to raise $100,000 to keep youth safe and off the streets. Raffle tickets are available and the online auction includes trips to Paris, Florida and Chicago; tickets to Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Blackhawks games; unique items like humidors and sports memorabilia; and 10 pairs of airline tickets.
