What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?

My most interesting job was as a trainer and faculty member with Kaplan University.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up on the West Side of Chicago

Growing up, what did you want to be?

Growing up, I wanted to be and do many things. I wanted to be a nurse but became a EMT. I wanted to be a teacher and later in life, I did indeed become a teacher. I wanted to open a resort and also reside at the same resort; this one is still in the making, lol.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?

When I’m stressed, I use to stress more trying to figure out how to destress, lol. However with time, maturity and guidance, I learned to walk away and engage in breathing exercises, go for walks, sip tea, close my eyes and envision calm blue water.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?

If I could meet a well known figure, it would be Tyler Perry. Mr. Perry is the epitome of fighting through all obstacles until you no longer have to fight.

What is Chicago’s best-kept secret?

Chicago’s best kept secret is that there is a home for any and everyone. The opportunity is present for folks of all walks of life to purchase something! that will be the beginning of a generational change

What do you love most about the industry?

I love educating people and helping them across all spectrums of real estate.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?

I distinguish myself from other agents by showcasing my experience, education and real life obstacles that have championed. Obstacles that have molded me to be a stronger client advocate and negotiator. Obstacles that humbled me to understand it’s not just the sale, it’s about protecting your clients interests and biggest investment. After 30+ years in management and other leadership roles — board president of a local union, board president of a local school board, executive of Illinois School Board Association, mentor, etc. — I think my dedication, commitment and trustworthiness have been supported by the many roles I have successfully fulfilled.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

The most difficult aspect of my job is knowing I have limitations of what I can do. I always wish I could do more, for more.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?

My best advice for generating new leads is to simply start talking! Call, text, email and/or post on social media, do any and everything you can; personal, business, life successes, failures, etc. … Let people know who you are. Because there are others out there that will relate to something you share which will open a window of comfort.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment repeats itself every time I can help a family acquire their new home. My second greatest accomplishment is every time I help a family save their home.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?

Lately, I binge on learning more and more.

What’s your favorite meal in Chicago?

My favorite meal is anything Italian.
