Katie Barreto, Broker Associate

RE/MAX Signature Homes

On the heels of a record-breaking year in 2017, much of Katie Barreto’s success has come from her willingness to take risks. Last year, this meant venturing into the field of whole-home renovation and restoration for the first time.

As a broker associate for RE/MAX Signature Homes, Barreto serves clients throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. She works largely with referrals from past clients, and she enjoys growing her business by working with new investors. Barreto considers herself a “resi-mercial agent,” which means she serves both residential and commercial buyers, sellers and investors.

RE/MAX Signature Homes has recognized Barreto in its 100% Club, and she has been able to maintain a successful sales portfolio throughout her career. On top of this, Barreto has brokered partnerships with leading developers throughout Chicagoland to undertake home renovations. Her previous renovation experience was in the area of interior remodels, helping clients move their properties onto the market more quickly.

Before embarking on the renovations, Barreto made substantial additions to her list of trusted of real estate agents, developers and contractors. These additions made it possible to not only restore and renovate homes but also get them from construction to closing ahead of schedule. By coordinating this work, Barreto is able to offer her clients a single point of contact. “I work with several property investors and have started not only buying and selling their homes but also designing and restoring them so they will be ready for the next 50 years of families,” she says.

Outside of work, Barreto is dedicated to caring for and spending time with her father, who is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Barreto attributes much of her success to her father’s own strong work ethic and incredible dedication to the needs of others. In fact, his motto of “do well while doing good” has inspired Barreto to set her own goals, whether it be in her career or through volunteering with organizations such as Angelwish and the Alzheimer’s Association.
