Trulia has crunched the numbers to determine the best neighborhoods for living well by ranking “universally loved” features like quiet streets, parks and proximity to schools and healthcare. Now the online real estate giant has determined how much a buyer needs to make to afford these communities. Rogers Park made the list, and it’s one of the most affordable of Trulia’s best neighborhoods.
Described as having “all the perks of city life,” including the Red Line and access to beaches, Rogers Park is dense enough to offer city living while far enough away from downtown to be considered affordable.
The median home price for the North Side neighborhood is $154,000. To afford such a home, buyers would need to make $47,760, according to Trulia.
That is by far the lowest annual salary needed to live in the seven best neighborhoods Trulia picked to study, beating out neighborhoods in Philadelphia, Houston and St. Louis in terms of affordability.
