Which Illinois ZIP codes have the highest median sales price? Real estate research company PropertyShark recently ranked the 50 most expensive ZIP codes in Illinois. At the top of the list is Kenilworth’s 60043 ZIP code, with a median sales price of $1,212,500. Another North Shore ZIP, Winnetka’s 60093, came in second, its median sales price $890,000. Third on the list is Glencoe’s 60022, carrying a median sales price of $882, 500.
Although it didn’t make the top five, ZIP codes within the city of Chicago account for thirty-two percent of the most expensive ZIP codes in Illinois, first appearing on the list at number six, in the heart of the Loop: 60603, with a median sales price of $702,500. Other ZIPs that appear in the top 50 mainly account for neighborhoods East of Humboldt Park, North of Pilsen, just below Devon Ave. and almost all of downtown, where much of Chicago’s luxury living and development is concentrated. Chicago is also home to the largest residential transaction: unit 5200 at the Waldorf Astoria sold for $11,700,00, marking the most expensive sale of 2016.
On a national level, Illinois did not make it to the list of the 100 most expensive ZIP codes in the U.S.
