by John Yellig

@properties Christie’s International Real Estate promoted Jim Barcelona to executive vice president of brokerage services following the recent retirement of Thomas Downing.

Barcelona previously served as vice president of brokerage services of the firm’s Naperville, St. Charles, Downers Grove and Elmhurst offices.

Meanwhile, veteran agent Mike Long is taking over Barcelona’s position at the Downers Grove and Naperville locations, while Vice President of Agent Development Kevin Rynes is becoming vice president of brokerage services at the Lake Forest and Elmhurst offices. Barcelona will remain vice president of brokerage services at St. Charles for the time being.

Barcelona, who was named Managing Broker of the Year (Suburbs) by Chicago Agent magazine in 2022, joined @properties in 2018. In his new role, he will lead @properties’ managing brokers with a focus on coaching, mentorship and business development. He will also work with Chief Brokerage Officer Amy Corr on company-wide growth initiatives.

A Realtor for over 25 years, Long joined @properties in 2020 as the brokerage opened its Naperville office. During his career, he has served on the board of the Mainstreet REALTORS® and several committees with the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.

As vice president of agent development for the last two years, Rynes helped develop many of the company’s coaching and training initiatives. He has more than 20 years of residential real estate experience and previously served as managing broker of several Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices offices on the North Shore.

“Jim, Mike and Kevin not only have tremendous experience, but also a deep understanding of our culture and value proposition,” said Thad Wong, co-founder and co-CEO of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. “Their expertise and leadership strengthen an already exceptional team and ensure our agents have the support they need to thrive.”
