Andre T. Mitchell, Keller Williams ONEChicago

by Chicago Agent

Number of years in real estate:
16 years.

Describe your look:
I would say my style is “versatile professional.” I can go from a polo and slacks to a suit for any occasion at any moment.

What item in your closet do you wear the most?
It would have to be my go-to shoes, and they would have to be a pair of Comme Des Garcons. I can throw a pair of those on to dress up a casual look or throw a pair on with a suit to make it more relaxed.

What style has come back into fashion that shouldn’t have?
I would have to say the grunge look or the overly distressed look. I am not paying top dollar for something that looks like it’s a hand-me-down.

What item of clothing gets you the most compliments?
Anytime I have a suit on, I get compliments or a smile.

What is a fashion crime you have committed in the past?
Now I am over here airing my secrets, but a fashion crime I have made is wearing a belt that was a contrasting color from my shoe. This occurred when I was out of town and forgot to pack the appropriate accessories, but hey, I had to keep things moving.

Who is your style icon?
I would have to say my grandfather. At a young age, I can remember him taking time to pick out his suits and coordinate his ties and handkerchiefs. Even when he just had on a shirt and slacks, he would also throw on a beret flat cap to complete his look. No matter what the attire was, after he got dressed, he would spray a hint of cologne before leaving out. When it was time for him to get dressed, he always cared about his appearance.

What decade or time period had the best fashion, in your opinion?
For men, I would say the 50s had the best fashion, and we are seeing more of that tailored look start to make a comeback now, but back in the 50s being debonair was the standard.

What’s the most meaningful accessory or piece of clothing you’ve ever acquired?
The most meaningful accessories that I have would be ties that belonged to my late grandfather. The ties not only mean a lot because they belonged to my granddad, but they also remind me of when he taught me how to tie my own ties. They are my own little piece of history that I will cherish forever.

What item in your closet do you wear the most?
It would have to be my go-to shoes, and they would have to be a pair of Comme Des Garcons. I can throw a pair of those on to dress up a casual look or throw a pair on with a suit to make it more relaxed.

What fashion accessory do you feel naked without?
I will always have on a watch. Not having something on my wrist definitely makes me feel naked.

What do you consider a “fashion don’t”?
A fashion don’t is wearing anything you don’t feel comfortable in. There are too many hours in a day to walk into rooms over and over and not feel confident in your appearance.

Where are your favorite clothing stores or brands?
My go-to store is Suitsupply, and also Zara.

Does your style reflect your personal brand? If so, how?
Absolutely, I think my style reflects my brand. I think my style is conservative but still fun and approachable, just like me.

Suit jacket, Suitsupply; slacks, Suitsupply; classic button-up, Suitsupply; loafers, Gucci
