Kara Littwin Real Estate Broker

COMPASS Lincoln Park

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I worked in sales at Zoom during the pandemic.

Where did you grow up?
Palatine.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Kobe Bryant. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was so inspiring.

What is Chicagoland’s best-kept secret?
I don’t know about secret, but we have the best old-school Italian restaurants. Specifically, Topo Gigio.

What do you love most about the industry?
It is constantly changing, which pushes us as agents to pivot with new trends and makes us stronger people and agents. It is also so rewarding to work with first-time homebuyers and help them find a place to call home that they are proud of.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I am not a typical pushy salesperson. I am honest to a fault and also tell my clients to think of me as their best friend (not someone who works for them) who they can call at any hour.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Ask current clients for referrals in your first meeting, and also, always talk to people and keep existing relationships alive.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
Choosing to leave my comfortable job in tech sales and transition into real estate.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?
Rookery Building.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
A guy asked if he could pay for a condo at the Trump with a Maserati.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I used to play the piano.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Mexico because I love the option to eat chips and guac all day.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Be patient and don’t give up.
