Image is everything

by Blake Boldt

Blake BoldtAre real estate agents getting a bad rap? The public’s perception of real estate agents is largely shaped by the media as well as their own personal experiences. A relationship with an inexperienced or misinformed agent can shape their views. Clients expect you to advocate for them, to negotiate for them and to take their best interests to heart. Anything less can contribute to the public’s dim view of the profession.

Much of the public may not understand the work, dedication and time required to be a successful agent. In our cover story, agents share how they overcome any misperceptions their clients may have about the real estate industry and what they do to manage a variety of roles, from closing the sale to serving as a counselor and support system for their clients. The job of any agent is to understand the housing market, set reasonable expectations for their clients and present information as clearly as possible. We tell you how these agents manage all these tasks and more. Also: Don’t forget to check out reader survey, with recommendations on how agents can increase their standing in the eyes of the public.
