Defining your space

by Blake Boldt

After more than a decade living in Nashville, I seized a major opportunity last month, moving to Chicago and accepting my position as managing editor for Chicago Agent. In a previous role, I served as an account executive in real estate advertising for The Tennessean, Nashville’s daily newspaper. I’m excited to rejoin the industry and look forward to meeting many of you soon — in person and through the pages of our magazine.

My work in advertising taught me the value of agent branding and what it takes to define your own space in real estate: time, insight and a clear understanding of who you are and what you have to offer. This issue’s cover package is devoted to agents who have succeeded by asking themselves some important questions: What are my core values? Why am I unique in today’s market? Which audience might benefit most from my service? The answers revealed a whole new world of possibilities for these agents, and as a result, they’ve built a fulfilling career helping others find their new homes.

We hope that their experiences might help you think a little differently and spark creativity that will lead to greater successes in your future. Some of the key messages they shared really resonated with me as I settle into my new surroundings: embrace change, discover your comfort zone and always be moving forward. Those are certainly words for all of us to live by each day.

I welcome your comments and questions, so send them along to blake@agentpublishing.com. Feel free to say hi and introduce yourself, and keep me posted on the latest news, events and information from your business.
