The Technology Partnerships Shaping Real Estate

by Jason Porterfield

The SentriSmart Solution

Realtors Property Resource and SentriLock recently announced a joint effort to bring more data to agents on their mobile devices through the SentriSmart app. When an agent uses a smartphone to open a property’s SentriLock lockbox, the app displays relevant data, immediately providing them with access to RPR’s parcel-specific information. Agents can literally unlock access to maps, comps, deed information, data about foreclosures and other valuation information.

The power of having so much data at one’s fingertips cannot be discounted. According to NAR’s 2015 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 78 percent of recent buyers found their agent to be a very useful source of information, and 82 percent stated that online sources were a good place to find data. Instead of competing with the Web, agents can leverage that wealth of information to service their clients.

The free app, which is available in Apple’s App Store, can do more than simply provide data. Agents can use SentriSmart to see who has accessed a lockbox, select lockboxes or remove them from a listing, and assign lockboxes to limit access to a property.

Making property information easier for agents to access and deliver to clients will ultimately help consumers make informed decisions, RPR CEO Dale Ross says.

“The recent integration between RPR and SentriLock is designed to provide members utilizing the SentriSmart mobile app with instant access to high-value property data and reports from RPR,” Ross says. “Both companies understand the speed and efficiency that agents and brokers expect in today’s business environment.”

New services and tools for agents are born through such partnerships. Agents can leverage them to improve their marketing strategies, make their business more efficient, reach more consumers and learn more about their markets.

With more and more homebuyers using online tools to search for a home, agents must have a firm handle on not only how they themselves can most effectively use technology in their real estate business, but also how their target audiences access data and information. As more data becomes available, and in a wider variety of platforms, interfaces and devices, agents will need to develop strategies for answering user needs and habits on each.
