A new list by public records database BackgroundChecks.org picked out what they deemed to be the top safest towns in Illinois.

“While much of Illinois’ population is centered around Chicago, there are many places to live in this beautiful state and we’re going to tell you which ones are the safest,” the report states.

BackgroundChecks based their list on FBI violent crime stats and their propriety research data.

Here are the top 15 safest places in Illinois, according to the website:
