Chicagoland Suburb Voted Among 10 Best Towns for Families

by James F. McClister

Early Tuesday morning, Family Circle, a lifestyle magazine, announced the results of a survey it had conducted to identify America’s 10 Best Towns for Families.

The publishing of the magazine’s list marks the eighth annual release of the survey. The final ten cities, which come from all corners of the nation, were chosen for their affordable housing options, sense of community and school systems.

The list will be of particular interest to Chicago Agent readers , of course, for the sheer curiosity of the matter, but also because Elmhurst, a Chicago suburb, was voted amongst the Top 10 this year. Family Circle interviewed local resident Karen Stezowski, 50, who praised the suburb, saying, “Elmhurst has everything a family could want.”

From $1 summer movies at the York theater to the high-standard schools, which boast ACT and SAT scores well above state averages, Elmhurst stands out as not only an ideal Illinois community, but a U.S. community.

The full list is as follows:

  • Apex, N.C.
  • Boerne, Texas
  • Brecksvile, Ohio
  • Camas, Wash.
  • Elmhurst, Ill.
  • Franklin, Tenn.
  • Lake Mary, Fla.
  • Westborough, Mass.
  • Westfield, Ind.
  • Woodbury, Minn.
