Katy Thomas, Prime Title Founder and Principal

Prime Title, a new real estate title company located in Chicago, began operation on January 10. Founded by real estate industry expert Katy Thomas, Prime Title provides one-on-one title services for real estate attorneys, lenders, developers and brokers.

Backed by Stewart Title, a national real estate service provider, Prime Title offers all the benefits of a national leading underwriter with the personalized approach of a boutique title company. Every title order is handled personally by Thomas, who monitors each transaction from start to finish, quickly addressing any issues that may arise along the way.

“By having Stewart Title handle all of the operations, it allows me to concentrate on giving my clients the attention they need to get a transaction done efficiently,” says Thomas.

Thomas, who specializes in transactional services, has 25 years of experience in the industry and has successfully built a client list that features many of the city’s top real estate professionals. Having owned a title insurance company in the past, Thomas was determined to become a business owner again, citing her clients as her primary motivation.

“I know what it takes to own and run a title company, and being in the driver’s seat again allows me to continue giving my clients the excellent customer service level that they need and deserve,” she said. “There’s nothing more important than making sure my clients are happy and have a successful transaction, from title to closing.”

Thomas began her career as an escrow closer at Chicago Title & Trust, a job she now credits as her inspiration for pursuing a career in real estate. Since then, she has held several different positions supporting transactional services, most recently serving as executive vice president for Near North National Title. She holds a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University, is a member of both the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), and is an affiliate member of the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR).
