The Best Business Models: Team, Partnership, or Stay on your Own?

by Chicago Agent

Proctor’s team of four includes two administrative assistants, one contract administrator and one sales executive. Every member of Proctor’s team has specific duties outlined for them.

“All appointments are coordinated by the administrative assistants. It is important to maintain a master schedule to ensure that all appointments are assigned and handled on a timely basis, because in our current competitive environment, a tardy response could cost you a sale,” she said. “My office has a designated contract administrator who exclusively handles all scheduling of the inspection and closings plus maintains the contract files and handling all correspondence with the buyers, sellers and attorneys. Ensuring that all parties receive the required documentation on a timely basis is the final step in completing a successful transaction and leaving your clients with the utmost confidence in your team.”

Lisa Novelli is the sales executive on Proctor’s team. Though she just started working for Proctor in September, the two have known each other for years. In addition, Novelli worked with Ricker-Murphy Development years before, too. Though Novelli’s specific day-to-day tasks are similar to Proctor’s – handle inquiries from people interested in seeing units in Lincoln Park 2550, make showing appointments, handle walk-ins, follow-up with everyone who has had showing appointments and, ideally, close the sale – Proctor is the manager of the team, so Novelli reports to Proctor with her progress and any challenges she may encounter.

“At the end of every day, I sit with Tere and we talk about the day’s progress, as well as if there are any events coming up we should attend to network,” Novelli said. “We also have weekly meetings with Ricker-Murphy, and Tere and I try to touch base on Saturday mornings.”

Proctor and Novelli are in constant contact with each other, though they’re both selling individually. If Novelli gets an offer from an interested party or needs Proctor for anything, she lets Proctor know, and she helps Novelli out.

“We’ve been accomplishing all our goals,” Novelli said. “We really make a great team.”
