Former Chicago White Sox Reliever Bobby Jenks reduced the price today on his West Suburban home.
The house at 5706 Astony Court in Hinsdale, Ill. originally hit the market Feb. 7 for $899,000, according to selling agent Diana Ivas of RE/MAX Elite. In an interview today Ms. Ivas revealed, “We just reduced it to $849,000 to be competitive with the market.”
Jenks, who signed a two-year $12 million contract with the Boston Red Sox in December, paid $967,500 for the house in 2006, according to ChicagoBreakingNews.com.
Per the property’s listing on Trulia.com, the home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two half-bathrooms. Located on a private cul de sac, the property features vaulted ceilings, skylights, a library and a cherry wood bar.
About 20 miles from downtown Chicago, Ms. Ivas describes Hinsdale as having a “charming village atmosphere with a variety of home styles and a quaint downtown.” In comparison to other Hinsdale homes, she says 5706 Astony Court “offers more space for the price and is in a low-traffic neighborhood.”
Jenks made his spring training debut for the Red Sox earlier this month at Fort Meyers Fla.’s City of Palms Park in a Grapefruit League exhibition game against the Philadelphia Phillies, according to NESN.com.
