Few people in Cook County real estate have touched as many parts of the business as Edward Gal — and fewer still have the volume to prove it.
A native of Chicago’s South Side and the son of Polish immigrants, Gal graduated from DePaul University and spent five years as a tax consultant before pivoting into real estate. In 2000, he founded the @ Home Realty Group and zeroed in on condo conversions, selling roughly 3,000 units and closing as many as 28 transactions in a single day.
After the 2008 housing crash, Gal pivoted into sheriff’s sale auctions, distressed properties and single-family investing. Over the past 15 years, he has acquired more than 500 distressed properties, flipping more than 300 homes and building a rental portfolio that, at its peak, has included nearly 100 properties.
As volume grew, Gal identified missed opportunities and inefficiencies, leading him to launch @ Home Title Services and Illinois Flip Funders as part of a vertically integrated platform spanning brokerage, title and private lending.
Today, most of Gal’s acquisitions flow through sheriff’s sales, tax deeds and wholesale channels. His financial background underpins everything. “If the numbers don’t work, the deal doesn’t happen,” he explains. Through @ Home Title Services, he helps Realtors earn title fee income on listings they are already closing, with minimal additional work and no cost to participate.
Gal is a member of the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS®, the American Land Title Association and the Illinois Land Title Association, and he was named to Metro Chicago Real Estate magazine’s 40 Under 40 list in 2004.
Outside of work, Gal coaches youth basketball at Our Lady of the Woods in Orland Park and chairs the Marian Gal Charitable Foundation. In addition, he enjoys spending time on the water and international travel.
