Lisa O’Malley, Senior Mortgage Consultant & Sales Manager

New American Funding

Lisa O’Malley’s introduction to the mortgage industry happened by chance, but it led to a lifelong, fulfilling career. In college, she took a position at General Electric Mortgage Insurance Company. She quickly grasped the language and concepts of the mortgage industry, and by the next summer, she was already processing loans. Now, nearly four decades later, she still finds joy in helping borrowers plan their financial futures and secure a place to call home.

As a senior mortgage consultant and sales manager with New American Funding, O’Malley originates a range of loan products, including jumbo, conventional and government loans for residential properties with one to four units. She’s also highly experienced with specialty programs, including loans for self-employed borrowers utilizing bank statements, trust income, asset utilization income, down payment assistance and grant programs.

“Most originators take a mortgage application and leave the rest to their team,” she explains. “But because I understand the borrower’s goals and situation best, I stay involved throughout the process — from application to closing and beyond — to keep everything smooth and efficient.”

O’Malley now supports more than 40 originators across her region. She provides guidance on products and underwriting, as well as marketing, technology and training resources. She also helps coordinate internal sales meetings and regional events.

For O’Malley, finding the right solution for each borrower is deeply rewarding — especially in challenging situations. “I always think about the big picture,” she says. “What does the borrower want to accomplish? What’s their plan? Then I help them figure out how to get there.” Her guidance extends well beyond closing. “One of the best parts of being an originator is reconnecting with past clients as their lives evolve,” she shares.

Outside of work, O’Malley enjoys playing tennis, taking long walks and spending quality time with family and friends.
