After 24 years in the mortgage industry, John Noldan has seen it all. It’s the experience of witnessing the ups, the downs and everything in between that he credits for his skills to rise above his competition. It taught him what works, what doesn’t and how to navigate challenges.
Noldan, who specializes in residential loans, studied political science in college and intended to go into politics. He changed his mind after a friend introduced him to the mortgage industry. He realized he could make a meaningful impact on people’s lives by helping with one of their largest financial decisions. In addition, he tended bar, and that experience taught him to listen, communicate effectively and connect with people.
Experience also has gifted Noldan with the insight and problem-solving skills necessary to find creative solutions to the most complex challenges. “I’m proud to have remained successful in this fast-paced, competitive market, especially in a climate of multiple offers, thanks to a deep understanding of the industry, a strong reputation and a hands-on, client-focused approach to my business,” he says.
Noldan’s worst professional fear is to hear someone he knows say, “I had no idea you were in the business. I would’ve used you!” after buying a home. He believes visibility is everything in the mortgage industry and actively works to market himself in the locations where he does the majority of his business. He also receives new clients from referrals.
Noldan speaks to new clients face-to-face or over the phone with the goal of building a personal connection, understanding their goals and ensuring they feel comfortable asking questions during the process. He describes his business style as fun and relaxed and often hosts events for clients and referral partners to socialize outside of a business setting. “Communication and trust,” he says, “are everything.”
