With a background in finance and investing, Kathy Hoffman feels uniquely qualified to assist her clients in attaining their goal of homeownership. “For most, their home is their biggest financial asset,” she says. “I use my financial background to help my clients understand and make informed decisions regarding the purchase or sale of their home.”
Her personal background is another huge factor in Hoffman’s ability to relate to her clients, whether they are first-time buyers, sellers or buyers looking to right-size due to life changes. “I came into the real estate business in my mid-50s. This has allowed me to bring my life experience as well as my financial background into my working relationships. I have experienced buying and selling a home and have lived through many home renovations,” she explains, adding that she loves seeing the potential in a home and the process of making it happen.
For Hoffman, meeting the daily challenges of the real estate business is energizing, and she enjoys solving problems for her clients. For example, last summer when a potential buyer’s financing fell through, she followed leads from previous open houses and showings to secure a new buyer for her seller and was back under contract in just 24 hours. “I was so happy to be able help my clients through that bump in the home-selling process,” she recalls.
Clients have said they appreciate Hoffman’s caring manner and her attention to detail. “I have a business-like approach with my clients, but that is because buying or selling a home is a big decision and I do not want to appear casual with their concerns,” she says. “I strive to provide my clients with instruction and guidance at every step of the process.”
Hoffman serves Edgebrook, the Chicago Loop and the city’s West Side, as well as the north and northwest suburbs. Away from real estate, she volunteers with her dog to provide animal-assisted therapy at schools, hospitals and other organizations. She and her husband raised their family on the Northwest Side and currently live in Edgebrook.
