“Driven, encouraging and energetic” are words often used to describe Daphne Pinkney, leader of The Pinkney Team in Bolingbrook. As a Realtor and loan officer, Pinkney is constantly in action, educating clients on the benefits of owning real estate and helping them achieve their goals.
“It’s not a matter of if,” Pinkney says of homeownership, “just when.” Working mostly with first-time buyers, she begins each client relationship with a review of credit, closing expectations, financial expectations, a home buying wish list and the motto, “Delayed is not denied.”
With 27 years in the industry and real estate licensure in both Illinois and Florida, Pinkney began her career in the customer service area of mortgage lending. Early in her career, she learned the Chicago market by driving around neighborhoods and studying maps. “I worked neighborhoods like a 9-to-5,” she recalls.
Pinkney’s extensive background in lending gives her clients additional reassurance that she and her 24-member team can guide them across the finish line. Because she is both an agent and a loan officer, her clients experience a highly seamless process and enjoy the convenience of a one-stop shop.
A true believer that team support is a key to success, Pinkney says that her team helps with flexibility, scheduling and providing quicker responses for clients. Her team, along with her personal approach to life and real estate, was especially helpful during the COVID years. “My business tripled during COVID because we encouraged people in such unknown times to live and not just exist: Take the risks, buy the home and believe in yourself,” she shared.
Her commitment to encouraging others to triumph over adversity and reach their goals led Pinkney, with Jennifer Hernandez, to cofound My Do Over, a daylong event that focuses on women’s empowerment and drew 250 attendees to its first conference in 2022. Pinkney received a Certificate of Excellence from the Illinois Senate for her contributions to the real estate industry and has earned ICON status at eXp for the last two years.
