While working as a waitress at age 23 with two small children, Jennifer Borik was contemplating going back to school when a chance conversation with a regular customer changed her life. “I asked him what he did for a living, and he told me he was in the mortgage business,” she remembers. “I then asked him if he was hiring, and the rest is history!” Starting out as a receptionist and loan opener, Borik quickly moved up to loan officer, writing over $1 million in loans her first month.

A senior mortgage consultant with Wintrust Mortgage, Borik has now been in lending for 23 years and works with all clients, ranging from first-time homebuyers to CEOs. Her years of experience give her the ability to address almost every scenario possible while still taking the time to get to know her clients. “The lending process can be stressful, and it is crucial that each and every client has a successful transaction,” she explains. “I feel that connecting with them on a personal level helps achieve this goal. “I treat every client as if they were my only one.”

Named a member of the Principal Residential Mortgage President’s Club in 2002, Borik received top producer for Midwest Region by Access National Mortgage in 2003 and 2004 and the Top Dog award from Residential Loan Centers of America in 2005. She was recently listed as one of the Top 1% Originators in the 2021 Scotsman Guide by Wintrust Mortgage.

With the technology and specialty loan products that Wintrust has to offer and the ability to lend in all 50 states, Borik has formed relationships well outside of Illinois, including New York, Florida, Arizona, Tennessee, Texas and Indiana. “As far back as I can remember, I was a very detail-oriented person with a knack for problem-solving who loves to help people,” she shares. “A career in lending was definitely meant for me!”
