It was one phone call that changed everything. Jason Brown reached out to a family friend expressing a desire to change careers. The friend offered to mentor Brown as he transitioned into the mortgage industry. That was 17 years ago, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Brown’s professional expertise makes it easy for clients to trust him with financing their home. Along with conventional, FHA, VA and USDA loans, Wintrust Mortgage offers several niche lending programs, including financing for non-warrantable condos, new construction, rehab loans and grant programs.
Getting to know clients personally is key, in Brown’s opinion. “Establishing that connection is the cornerstone of success,” he says. After an initial meeting, Brown provides clients with all options to help them meet their financial goals. Additionally, he provides clear, actionable steps so they are well informed throughout. To keep transactions running smoothly, Brown makes it a priority to be easily accessible.
Even if a client’s circumstances temporarily prevent them from getting a mortgage approved, Brown will offer a personalized guide to help them get one in the future. “Many clients have followed my suggestions and come back to me months later excited and ready to close a loan,” he explains. “Following up regularly reminds my clients that I am committed to them.” One of Brown’s goals is to remain top of mind every time a client wants to buy or refinance a home, and his diligence in maintaining connections helps him do so.
Brown attributes his success to his award-winning team at Wintrust. His name may be the one on the file, but his processor, closer, assistant and management team all make it happen. “My team is dedicated to working persistently on all files until the dotted line is signed,” he says. “We strive for success every day.”
Brown’s recent career recognitions include Wintrust Mortgage Honors Circle (2019, 2020, 2021) and Scotsman Guide Top Originator (2021, 2022).
